About Lissa

Great to meet you! My name is Lissa (Alyssa without the “A”).

I created Family Foundations Co. after 15+ years of working in childcare, primarily as a nanny, and seeing how many challenges families were trying to navigate without one consistent person to turn to. Parents were often getting conflicting advice, recommendations that did not fit their family, or being sent to a different person for every new challenge.

After working with a particularly wonderful nanny family in 2025, I decided it was time to create a place where families could receive more comprehensive, practical support.

I believe family life is supposed to be beautiful, fun, connecting, and enjoyable! That is why I am here.

So what brought me here?

I have a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Child Development, along with additional training and certifications in areas including infant nutrition, newborn care, and early education and care.

After spending a year teaching kindergarten, I worked in childcare centers for two years, serving as a lead teacher across infant and toddler classrooms. I eventually realized I was at my best when I could build a strong relationship with one family at a time, which led me into nannying.

After spending a year teaching Kindergarten, I worked in childcare centers for 2 years, serving as a lead teacher across infant and toddler classrooms. I eventually realized I was at my best when I could build a strong relationship with one family at a time, which led me into nannying.

Since then, I have worked with more than ten families, caring for children ranging from 10 days old to 8 years old.

I also took a few-year side quest into holistic health and nutrition coaching. While my work eventually brought me back to families, that experience still influences how I think about routines, food, movement, stress, and the family as a whole.

My philosophy: Families function best when parents feel confident, children feel heard and understood, and everyone knows what to expect.

I strongly believe that children are capable of far more than we give them credit for (yes even during those terrible two’s!!). Children thrive when they are included in family life, given age appropriate responsibilities, and supported with clear and consistent boundaries.

I also believe that children’s behaviours make much more sense when we understand their development. Rather than relying on one-size-fits-all parenting advice, I look at the whole picture. Your child, your routines, your environment, family dynamics, and what is realistic in your home.

The goal is not to create a picture perfect family. It is to build more connection, consistency, rhythm, and joy, in a way that feels sustainable!

How I Work With Families

I start by getting to know your family: what feels difficult, what is already working, and what you would like daily life to feel like instead.

From there, I look at the bigger picture: your child’s development, routines, environment, family dynamics, communication, and the patterns surrounding the challenge.

Together we create realistic strategies that fit your family, rather than trying to force your family into a specific parenting method.

Depending on the support you choose, our work may include: coaching conversations, action plans, video reviews, in-home observation, and real-time guidance while routines or challenging moments are actually happening.

The goal is for you to walk away with strategies you understand, feel confident using, and can continue long after our work together ends.
